Did you know that the same promises that God made to Abraham He has made to you, too? Do you know that the same way God blessed Abraham, He has already blessed you? Are the blessings of Abraham manifesting in every area of your life? In The #1 Reason Why the Faith, Promises, and Blessings of Abraham are Yours Today, I will show you how to have those blessings come to pass in your life.

The promise God made to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3, states:

Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country,
From your family And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you
And make your name great, And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Do you know that those promises are yours today? “Well, we’re no longer living in the Bible days, or we’re not Jewish,” you might say.

Allow me to show you, The #1 Reason Why the Faith, Promise, and Blessings of Abraham Are Yours Today.

Let’s Begin By Reviewing the Promises God Made to Abraham.

It begins by saying that “God had said…” Had is the past, that meant that God had already spoken to Abram, but He had not stepped out on faith and done what God had said to him.

What Did God say to Abram? What Has God said to you?

God’s blessing to Abram was conditional. What were the conditions?

  1. Get out of your country, away from family, away from your father’s house, and go to a land that I will show you.

Significance: God wanted Abram to walk away from everything he knew and stepped out on faith and trust Him.

When Abram left, He:

  1. Separated
  2. Left everyone he knew
  3. Left everything he was familiar with
  4.  Would not get the inheritance that was set aside for him
  5. Had to walk by faith.
  6. God did not say where the land was, but only a land that He would show Abram.

Where Are We Going?

God wanted Abram to go to a place that He (God) would show him.

Significance: Abram will need to walk by faith because his going was a test of his faith. Notice, God didn’t say go here or there but go to a place that I will show you.

That means, in order for Abram to see where God would show him, he needed to walk, move, and go forward.

Application: Sometimes, God will require you to step out on faith in a situation. It is up to you to begin to walk, trust, believe, and have faith, in order for God to show you your next move. When God gives you instructions, it’s a perfect opportunity to exercise the “faith of Abram.”

God Will Do the Making

I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing.

Significance: Remember earlier, I stated that by Abram leaving his family and country, he would lose everything he knew. His family, land, and inheritance that his father prepared for him.

Look what God said to Abram?

4 Blessings:

  1. I will make you a GREAT nation
  2. I will bless you
  3. Make your name great
  4. You shall be a blessing

Let Us Unpack Each of These Separately

  1. I will make you a great nation: Notice God didn’t just say He would make him, a nation, but a GREAT one! This GREAT nation that God promised Abram was Israel or the Jewish nation.

Abram is The Father of The Jews.

  1. I will bless you: God would bless (bestowed favor, abundance in every area of Abram’s life, multiply and increase him.)
  2. Great name: Abram is the father of the Jewish nation and a father of all those who has come to Christ.
  3. Once God had blessed Abram, he, in turn, would be a blessing to others.
  4. That meant the fruitfulness, favor, increase, the abundance that God had bestowed on Abram, he would be able to bestow on others.

How is Abram the father of Christians, too?

Personal Application

What has God said to you about something He has for you to do? Was it to write a book, start a business, leave a dead-end relationship, etc.? Whatever, God has instructed you to do, it is important for you to step out on faith and do it.

Allow Me to Share My Testimony

My first book, Praying for Our Children, started out as me writing out scriptures and praying them over my daughter, who was classified at an early age. We had to see a child study team, and different doctors, because she was not developing as she should.

But, I was determined to take hold of the promises of God and meditate on them, so that when I opened my mouth God’s word would come forth about my baby gurl.

I began to pray the Bible verses over her and that turned into my first published book, Praying for our Children.

Here is a prophecy the Lord gave me about my book-Praying For Our Children:

“This book will go beyond the four walls of the Church as you know it, to the un-churched. It will take this nation by force like a wildfire and the world like a whirlwind.”

That is a promise that God has given me, and I hold it dear to my heart today, confessing it daily over my book.

What About You?

What has God said to you? Have you stepped out on faith? Do you know that unless you do what He has asked you to do, then the blessings from that obedience will not manifest (show favor, increase) into your life?

So, what is The #1 Reason Why the Faith, Promises & Blessings of Abraham is Yours Today?

One of my favorite scriptures has the answer: Galatians 3:29, and if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The Faith, Promises, and Blessings of Abraham is Yours Today because you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life. That is the only reason, and we are so grateful for Jesus the seed of Abram.

Let’s Review, Shall We?

God called out Abram and promised to make him a great nation, to make his name great, to bless him, and for Abram to be a blessing. Abram obeyed and stepped out on faith.

Those same promises that God gave to Abram are for you today. However, unlike Abram, God has already done everything that He said He would do for you, and so today, by faith, you receive it in Jesus’ name.

Galatians 3:29 says that if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

How are you Abraham’s seed? That great nation God promised Abram, the Messiah – Jesus Christ – came through the seed of Abram.

Because Jesus came through the seed of Abram, and we have accepted Jesus Christ, we have now become the seed of Abram through Jesus.

Since we are now Abram’s seed through Jesus, we are heirs according to the promise.

What was the Promise again? If you step out on faith, God will:

  1. Make you great
  2. Bless you
  3. Make your name great
  4. You will be empowered to bless others

What Else?

On Top of All That God Promised, He Went on To Say that He would:

  1. Bless those who bless Abram
  2. Curse those who cursed him
  3. And in him, all of the families of the earth shall be blessed.

Those promises are yours today because of Jesus. God will bless

  1. Those that bless you
  2. Curse those that curse you:
    • That is why you don’t have to worry about taking care of those who attack you because God will avenge you.
  3. Because of the blessings that are upon your life,  people from all over will be able to be blessed because of you and your gift.
    • And this is another reason why obedience to God is important. Not only will you benefit from it but others will be able to reap the blessings because of you.

Let us recap.

The #1 Reason Why the Faith, Promise & Blessing of Abraham is Yours Today is Because:

  1. If you are in Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed
  2. And if Abraham’s seed then you are heirs according to the promise
  3. Because you are heirs to the promise God will:
    • Make you a great nation
    • Bless you
    • Make your name great
    • You will be a blessing
    • God will bless those that bless you
    • Curse those that curse you
    • And all of the families of the earth will be blessed because of you

Personal Application

One of the areas we need to work on is receiving the promises of God and changing our speech.

So how do you receive the promises of Abraham and change your speech?

Know that God has already blessed, healed, delivered, set you free, and has already done everything He will ever do for you. Your job is to receive it all in Jesus name.

How Do You Receive it?

Say the following:

Lord, I thank you that I am in Christ, and because I am in Christ, I am Abraham’s seed and heirs to the promise.

Thank you that I am:

A great nation, the gifts, and talents you have given me are great.

Blessed and I receive your blessing, therefore.

Great person, thank you for making my name (business, gifts, talents) great.

Thank you that I am a blessing.

Thank you, Lord, that you will bless those that bless me, curse those that curse me, and all of the families of the earth shall be blessed because of me.
